Conference Speaker Grant Program
Purpose
The Society for The Teaching of Psychology (STP; Division 2 of APA) is pleased to announce a program to provide support to teaching conferences or preconferences to fund speakers related to the teaching of psychology. Consistent with our Mission Statement and the Statement on Addressing Systemic Racism and Inequity in STP, we encourage applications from colleagues who are from underrepresented groups and have diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The grant program is open to any gathering of psychology teachers from 4-year colleges and universities, 2-year colleges, or high schools. (Please note that the program does not fund speakers for regional research conferences through this program; long-standing regional research conferences are supported by STP through another program.)
Amount of Funding Available
Each year, STP provides $9000 total in funding spread among six grant recipients in the amount of $1500 per speaker/conference. This money will provide travel reimbursement for the speaker, and the conference will be expected to fund (or waive) the speaker’s registration. Please note that STP may fund a speaker for more than $1500 travel reimbursement when special circumstances exist (e.g., international speaker, necessary accommodations).
Applicants for this grant program must be members of STP. A total of 6 grants are funded each year, with two deadlines for submission as described here (requires login).
Submission Due Date
Funding will be awarded twice a year, with application due dates of April 1 and October 1 each year. Three grants will be awarded for each due date, with the October deadline funding grants for conferences taking place the following calendar year and the April deadline funding grants for conferences taking place after April of the same calendar year. Applicants may submit for either or both deadlines; if an applicant submits for the October deadline and is unsuccessful in securing funding, they may resubmit for the April deadline, provided their conference is scheduled for some date after that April deadline. For further instructions on how to apply, click here (requires login).
