Society for the Teaching of Psychology: Division 2 of the American Psychological Association

International Travel Grants

Call for Applications

The Society for The Teaching of Psychology (STP; Division 2 of APA) is pleased to announce the International Travel Grant Program. Consistent with our Mission Statement and the Statement on Addressing Systemic Racism and Inequity in STP, we encourage applications from colleagues who are from underrepresented groups and have diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Grant funds will be used to defray the costs of international travel to psychology teaching conferences or to more general psychology conferences that have a significant teaching of psychology component.

Grants will be awarded for travel either from the US/Canada to a conference in a country outside of the US/Canada, or from a country outside of the US/Canada to the US/Canada. The conference must be a psychology teaching conference (e.g., STP’s Annual Conference on Teaching or the European Psychology Learning and Teaching Conference) or have a significant psychology teaching component (e.g., the American Psychological Association Convention with the one-day add-on TOPSS workshop or the International Convention of Psychological Science with the pre-conference Teaching Institute).

Applicants must be members of STP, and priority will be given to applicants who have submitted, or will be submitting, a teaching-related proposal to a teaching-related conference.

The STP International Travel Grant Program has a total of $10,000 USD to award. We anticipate funding approximately 6 to 8 awards at a maximum of $1,500 USD each. Funds will be divided among strong applications. Although the committee will strive to fund all strong applications in full, awardees may receive only a portion of the funds they request.

Deadline for applications is January 15 of the award year, 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.

Policies regarding STP grant programs can be found on the STP website.. Applications will be evaluated on the degree to which the applicant demonstrates that the proposed conference attendance will improve the applicant’s teaching of psychology.

Please complete the STP International Travel Grant Application (requires login) and email your CV (in PDF, named Lastname_cv.pdf) to Morton Ann Gernsbacher, Chair of the STP International Travel Grant Committee, at international-travel@teachpsych.org before 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time, January 15 of the award year.

Applicants will be notified of award decisions by February 15 of the award year.
